Global Diversity, Distribution, and Genetic Studies of Stable Flies (Stomoxys sp.)

چکیده
In the subfamily Stomoxyinae there are currently 18 recognized Stomoxys species, plus two subspecies. Most knowledge was gained through studies with S. calcitrans, a cosmopolitan economic pest, and vector. Other spp. known only from few trapped adult specimens. Herein, have been grouped by their ecological diversity, global distribution, phylogeny phylogeography. Seven species dependent to some degree on humans activities, particularly animal production. Eleven wildlife for development, little is about biology in many cases. Global distributions include one (S. calcitrans), twelve found Africa, four Asia, sitiens) Africa Asia. genetic calcitrans showed variation North America, possibly due adults’ long range flight capability. Phylogeographic analysis of differentiation between Oriental populations (first lineage) Afrotropical, Palearctic, Nearctic, Neotropical Oceanian regions (second lineage). Genetic were followed sequencing genome phylogenetic genus using 10 species. Phylogenetic relationships established.

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...
Vector competence of stable flies, Stomoxys calcitrans L. (Diptera: Muscidae), for Enterobacter sakazakii.
Enterobacter sakazakii is an opportunistic food-borne pathogen causing meningitis, enterocolitis, and sepsis, primarily in immunocompromised infants. It has been suggested that stable flies, Stomoxys calcitrans L., are a vector/reservoir of this pathogen. In this study, we assessed a) vector competence of adult stable flies (SF) for E. sakazakii, b) effect of E. sakazakii on SF development, and...
متن کاملDistribution and abundance of hematophagous flies (Glossinidae, Stomoxys, and Tabanidae) in two national parks of Gabon
In order to minimize risks of pathogen transmission with the development of ecotourism in Gabon, a seasonal inventory has been performed in five contrasted biotopes in Ivindo (INP) and Moukalaba-Doudou (MDNP) National Parks. A total of 10,033 hematophagous flies were captured. The Glossinidae, with six different species identified, was the most abundant group and constitutes about 60% of the ca...
متن کاملPollen from the Exoskeletons of Stable Flies, Stomoxys Calcitrans (linnaeus 1758), in Gainesville, Florida, U.s.a
Stable flies are an important pest of humans and livestock. Despite being blood feeders, they also visit flowers to eat nectar. Stable flies with pollen adhering to their exoskeletons were collected at the University of Florida Horse Teaching Unit and taken to the Paleobotany and Palynology Laboratory at the Florida Museum of Natural History for processing and identification. The pollen on all ...
متن کاملDistribution, Seasonality and Relative Abundance of Stomoxys Flies in Selected Districts of Central Ethiopia
A longitudinal study design was employed to collect Stomoxys flies between January, 2010 and December, 2011 from three different agro ecological settings, Sebeta, Debre Zeit and Fentale Districts, Ethiopia using vavoua traps. The study on the trapped Stomoxys flies was carried out with the aims of identification of Stomoxys species and comparison of the distribution, seasonality and relative ab...
